M.C. Shepard is not the actual name of the author, it is a pseudonym used by Iulian Mocanu, from Romania, in order for the book to seem more approachable to a foreign audience.

This tactic has not proved effective so far. 

The author's main experience in writing comes from video game related content and ghost writing things for other people. Tale of Doom is his first novel, having previously written short stories, web comics, fan-fiction, journalistic materials, scripts and more clickbait than you can shake a stick at.
